This webinar is part of 'War crimes and justice: a monthly webinar series'. This panel will open the series examining a key component to modern warfare: the arms trade and its role in conflicts in Africa and the Middle East. Panellists will discuss international and domestic laws governing arms transfers and sales during armed conflict, compliance with international humanitarian law and international criminal law, what states are obligated to do, what arms companies should do to ensure compliance and ethical due diligence and the accountability mechanisms available in various jurisdictions.

This session will open with brief updates from individuals from Sudan, Yemen, Iran and Palestine as to the situation on the ground.
