On the occasion of the Annual Conference of the International Bar Association (IBA) in Toronto, Canada, the IBA Human Rights Law Committee will host a screening of The Veto, a documentary produced by Tim Slade about the use of veto power within the UN Security Council.

The film discusses the veto’s impact on international responses to atrocity crimes. Through expert commentary and survivor testimonies, the film presents a compelling case for accountability and institutional reform. The official trailer is available at: https://www.timsladefilms.com/the-veto.

The film screening will open with a networking reception featuring wine, canapés and other refreshments. Following the film screening, a panel discussion and a Q&A will be held featuring the IBA’s Executive Director and distinguished practitioners and academics in international human rights law.
