A webinar presented by the IBA Professional Ethics Committee, supported by the IBA Bar Issues Commission and the Legal Policy & Research Unit
Independent lawyers are essential to the rule of law. Yet around the world, lawyers face growing pressure from governments, regulators, political movements and public opinion regarding whom they represent and how they practise. This session examines the historical and contemporary strategies to identify the lawyers with their clients and causes to prevent them from representing undesirable clients.
This is the second of a five-part series, based on the recent volume Lawyers, Gatekeeping and Access to Justice: A Critical Analysis, which features contributions from IBA officers and a foreword by IBA President Claudio Visco.
