Biography

Louie Ogsimer is the Co-Chair of the Dispute Resolution Department and Head of the Arbitration practice in the Philippine law firm Romulo Mabanta Buenaventura Sayoc & de los Angeles. Louie has conducted several international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations seated in Australia, Hong Kong, France, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore, and Washington D.C., and under different arbitration rules like the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA), Construction Industry Arbitration Commission of the Philippines (CIAC), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), Philippine Dispute Resolution Centre Inc. (PDRCI), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). Louie has handled arbitrations involving banking and finance, construction, concession and distribution agreements, energy and power, government regulation, insurance, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, mining, oil and gas, public and private infrastructure, public utilities, real property, shareholders’ agreements, and telecommunications, among others. Louie has acted as expert witness in cross-border disputes. He has also handled mediations in the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Singapore. His Philippine practice has seen him appear and orally argue before the Philippine Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Court of Tax Appeals, Constitutional Commissions, Sandiganbayan, and trial courts all over the Philippines. He has also appeared before various quasi-judicial agencies under the Philippine Executive Department and in inquiries in aid of legislation before the Philippine Congress. Louie is a Court Member of the ICC Court of Arbitration, a member of the HKIAC List of Arbitrators, the SIAC Panel of Arbitrators, and Philippine International Centre for Conflict Resolution. He has been consistently cited by Asia Business Law, Asia Law Profiles, Chambers, Legal 500, and Who’s Who Legal for his arbitration and litigation practice. Louie teaches International Commercial Arbitration and Private International Law.
