Biography
David Travers KC is a leading regulatory practitioner focusing principally on Environmental, Consumer, and Health and Safety law.
The majority of his practice is focused on dispute resolution, but he also advises on transactional matters, policy and ESG issues as well as white collar crime within his practice areas. His clients range from major commercial and industrial concerns to small businesses and individuals. He also acts for UK regulatory bodies and local authorities, and has experience as a non-executive director.
David’s experience as an advocate is extensive. He has appeared for clients in courts at every level as well as in and in arbitrations, mediations, public inquiries, inquests, and professional conduct tribunals. He is particularly experienced in cases involving technical evidence.
His regulatory work involves him acting for clients with criminal, contractual and tortious disputes arising in relation to: Environmental Law, (including energy, carbon emissions issues, pollution, waste, and recycling, including transfrontier shipment of waste); Consumer Protection (including product liability & recall, food safety, food labelling, trading standards, and secured lending); Health and Safety (including construction and fire safety); and related Public Law matters (including challenging the decisions of public bodies).
David is a published legal author, sometime Visiting Professor at the Business Accountability and Responsibility Centre at the University of South Wales (formerly Newport Business School. He lectures widely to professional and business audiences in the UK and the rest of the world.
David is an officer of the Academic & Professional Development Committee of the International Bar Association
