Biography

Luis Ortiz Alvarez is a partner of the law firm InterJuris, which has offices in Miami, Caracas, and Madrid, and presence in numerous other countries. Mr. Ortiz has more than 30 years of experience and concentrates his practice in public law, economic sanctions, and international arbitration. Mr. Ortiz is a multi-jurisdiction lawyer (he holds JDs from Venezuela, Spain, and Florida-USA, in addition to several Master Degrees at Panthéon-Assas University in France), and he has been recognized by Chambers Latin America and Latin Lawyer. He has been appointed by leading US, UK, and global law firms as a legal expert in Venezuelan law in numerous international litigation/arbitration and commercial disputes, including under ICSID, ICC, LCIA, Ad-Hoc tribunals, and high courts. He has also served for more than 15 years as a Professor of Law and has published 17 books and more than 35 articles in several legal topics.
