Biography
Mumtaz Bhalla is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution- Arbitration and Litigation Practice of ELP. She is an AOR with the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
Mumtaz has over 15 years of experience in the field of dispute resolution. She specializes in Domestic and International Arbitrations, White Collar Crimes and Money Laundering issues. She has wide experience in aviation, medical, real estate, construction and civil-commercial sectors.
She also possesses a wide range of experience in constitutional issues. Additionally, Mumtaz also specializes in conducting compliance workshops for companies.
Mumtaz usually argues her own matters and regularly appears before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, various Hon’ble High Courts, District Courts and quasi-judicial forums. She has been instrumental in procuring several favorable orders, on issues where the law is rigid, for several clients over the last decade. The list of multinational clients serviced by her is unending.
Mumtaz has been recognized as recommended lawyer for litigation by The Legal 500 Asia- Pacific. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). Mumtaz also features in the Forbes’ list of India’s top 100 lawyers and is recognized as a Rising Star in Legal Era’s 40 Under 40 Leading Lawyers List and also has been recognized as the Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year by global Lex Falcon Awards (2022 & 2021). Mumtaz has also been recognized as National Inspiration by We Care India in 2022. Additionally, she has also been recognized in BW World, Legal’s elite 40 Under 40 Club of Young Law Achievers.
Prior to ELP, Mumtaz was a Partner at L&L Partners Law Offices, Delhi (formerly Luthra and Luthra Law Offices). Mumtaz has served as the regional representative of India in International Bar Association’s Criminal Law Committee and was also a member of the steering committee of Young MCIA since 2018 till 2022. Mumtaz is part of FICCI’s YLFO and has also recently been recognized as a National Inspiration by We Care India. She has been featured on the cover story of Insight Success Magazine and Superlawyer.
