Biography
Adam Henkel is Head of Legal for US ETFs at Invesco. In this role, he is responsible for
oversight of all legal and regulatory aspects of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and unit
investment trusts, including commodity and currency exchange-traded products.
Mr. Henkel joined Invesco in 2013. Prior to his current role, he was a senior counsel, involved
extensively in all facets of legal matters related to ETF creation, management, and regulation.
He also functioned as primary counsel and subject matter resource for commodity and
currency exchange-traded products. In 2017, Mr. Henkel performed duties as interim chief
compliance officer of US ETFs, reporting directly to the board of independent trustees. This
consisted of development and implementation of policies and procedures necessary for
operations and regulatory compliance. Before joining the firm, he served as assistant vice
president of US Bancorp Fund Services, LLC, where he drafted legal documents, exemptive
relief and policies associated with a wide variety of commodity pools, ETFs, and mutual funds.
Prior to that, Mr. Henkel was an associate at Chapman and Cutler LLP, where he assisted
clients on varied matters including mutual fund and ETF registration and regulation, as well as
providing advertising, anti-money laundering, soft dollar, and internet offering compliance
advice to broker dealers and investment adviser clients. He has been in the industry since
2005.
Mr. Henkel earned a BS degree in radio, television, and film and a BA degree in English from
Northwestern University. He also earned a JD from Northwestern University School of Law.
Mr. Henkel is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Wisconsin.
