Biography

Former practising attorney in South Africa and former Company Secretary of Illovo Sugar Limited Jennifer was a practising attorney in South Africa for 35 years, practising in the areas of Commercial law, Company law, Insolvency law, and Sugar Industry related work, before being appointed as Company Secretary of Illovo Sugar Limited, a public company listed on the JSE Limited with operations in 6 countries in Africa, where she also headed up the legal department and advocacy functions. She is a past member of the Standing Advisory Committee on Company Law (SACCL), past member of the board of examiners for the Attorney’s admission examinations and past lecturer for the Association of Law Societies’ candidate attorneys training programme, and the University of Natal Law School’s courses for post- graduate students. Jennifer is also co-author and editor of the following legal publications: Henochsberg on the 1973 Companies Act; Henochsberg on the Close Corporations Act; and Meskin: Insolvency Law and its operation in winding up.
