Darryl Vhugen

Biography

Darryl Vhugen is a senior attorney and land tenure expert helping governments, business, investors, and communities achieve socially responsible and financially sustainable investments in land and natural resources. He also provides advice on land laws in a variety of countries. Among other projects, he has worked with the multilateral and bilateral donors and others to design and conduct training and resource materials for government officials, communities and the private sector on the VGGT, CFS-RAI and other responsible investment principles. Other projects include authoring a FAO technical guide for investors on the VGGT and co-authoring a land rights due diligence tool for the New Alliance on Food Security and Nutrition. Previously, Darryl spent 6 years at Landesa working with governments, the private sector and civil society on issues related to land law, land governance and land tenure. Before joining Landesa, Darryl spent 25 years in private law practice in the U.S. as a business lawyer and litigator. He has broad field experience in Asia and Africa.
