Biography

Professor Shin-Ichiro Abe Shin-Ichiro Abe is the Chairman of JIIART (Japan Institute of International Arbitration Research and Training) and has had 28 years of experience as a lawyer working in both domestic and international dispute resolution (including litigation, ADR (Alternative dispute Resolution), mediation and arbitration). Professor Abe got master degree at Waseda University and LL.M. at UCLA. Professor Abe is a visiting law professor both at Chuo Law School and at Kokushikan University (Master and Doctor of Law) and has years of experience teaching dispute, ADR and Corporate law. Professor Abe is the founder of Kasumigaseki International Law office (International Arbitration Chambers) and was formerly one of the heads of Baker & Mckenzie Japan’s departments. Professor Abe has contributed to numerous publications and spoken at many domestic and international events in the fields of arbitration/mediation, corporate law. He speaks regularly at arbitration conferences and seminars across the World but has a particular interest in the ASEAN region.
