Matthew Gillett
Biography
Matthew Gillett is an international lawyer who has investigated, prosecuted, and reported on human rights violations for around 15 years. He is the Director of the Peace and Justice Initiative and also works as a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the University of Essex. Previously, he worked at the International Criminal Court, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and other institutions. He has published extensively on matters related to international law and won the inaugural Benjamin Ferencz essay prize for his article on prosecuting aggression before the ICC.
