Danya Chaikel
Biography
Danya Chaikel is the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) Representative to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. She is a qualified barrister and solicitor, and a member of the Law Society of British Columbia (Canada), specialising in international criminal law and justice. She has worked at international criminal courts and tribunals, including the ICC, ICTY, and the SPO (Kosovo) as well as UN bodies, NGOs, and professional legal bodies. As a feminist human rights advocate, she has worked for over 20 years on various social justice issues affecting marginalised groups including refugee rights, human trafficking, accountability for grave international crimes, gender justice, fair trial rights, and addressing workplace misconduct in international justice institutions. Danya is Co-Vice Chair of the International Bar Association’s War Crimes Committee and an organising member of the ATLAS network of female lawyers working in public international law.
