Biography

Caroline GUENNETEAU is beIN MEDIA GROUP’s Deputy General Counsel / Acting General Counsel, having served as the Legal Director in Competition Law for beIN MEDIA GROUP since 2017 and as Legal Director of beIN SPORTS France since the channel launched in 2012. Caroline has played an essential role in establishing beIN SPORTS as a key player in sports broadcasting in beIN's various territories, particularly in France, and in developing the legislative and regulatory framework to combat sports piracy, notably through the adoption of an innovative piece of law in France, in 2021. The introduction into law of the principle of dynamic court orders for the blocking of pirate sites has led to a reduction of almost 50% of the streaming piracy of competitions in less than a year. A leading voice in sports law and anti-piracy in sports broadcasting, Caroline GUENNETEAU and her department were awarded the Silver Award for ‘Best European Legal Department’ from the International Legal Alliance Awards in 2017, and the Gold Award for ‘Best Legal Department’ in 2016 and in 2020 from French professional awards Trophées du Droit. Caroline is a founder and an active board member of APPS, the French trade association in charge of combatting sports piracy. Before joining beIN SPORTS, Caroline GUENNETEAU was a judge at the Nanterre Commercial Court, as well as previously working for the French broadcaster Canal+ as a Legal Director. Caroline has over thirty years’ experience in the media industry.
