Ross Goldstein

Biography

Ross Goldstein is an Assistant Director of the U.S. Department of Justice's Consumer Protection Branch ("CPB"). CPB is responsible for all civil and criminal litigation arising out of the principal consumer protection statutes administered by the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, among others. Prior to joining DOJ in 2008, Mr. Goldstein was an attorney with the Washington, D.C. office of Arnold & Porter, where his practice concentrating on representing the pharmaceutical industry in product liability litigation, as well as False Claims Act, criminal, and Congressional investigations. Mr. Goldstein's responsibilities at DOJ focus on supervising criminal enforcement of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and has been involved in prosecuting several notable and complex cases against some of the world's largest pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. In addition, he coordinates CPB's "rapid response" to rapidly emerging and critical situations that threaten public health and safety. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Washington & Lee University School of Law and his undergraduate degree in biology from St. Mary's College of Maryland. Following law school, Mr. Goldstein served as a law clerk to the Hon. Ellsworth Van Graafeiland of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York.
