Biography

Dr. Wells is a private equity investor with nearly two decades of experience as a global business executive. He currently serves as Founding Managing Partner of Blackpoll Capital, LLC, a private equity firm that invests in healthcare companies in the U.S. and Latin America. Previously, he was a Co–Founder and Managing Partner at Amicus Capital Partners, LLC, a healthcare-focused private equity firm. Appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Dr. Wells serves on the board of the U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum. He also serves as Co-Chairman of Cardea Healthcare Holdings, LLC, a board member of Aaidebook, Inc., and an advisory board member of the U.S.-China Chamber of Commerce. He previously served as a Board Observer at Florida Elite Medical Group, LLC (dba MyCare Medical). Dr. Wells is a Fellow in the Royal Society of Medicine (UK), and a member of the Asia Society, Chatham House, and the Council on Foreign Relations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA; an M.D. from Emory University (XSM); an M.Sc. in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the London School of Economics; and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
