Alvaro Aguilar
Biography
Álvaro is a partner at Aguilar Castillo Love and leads the Labor & Employment practice across Central and South America, with a strong focus on compliance and preventive strategies. He works closely with HR and in-house legal teams of multinational clients, advising them on regular matters such as hiring, terminations, regulatory compliance, and day-to-day guidance for timely decision-making. He also provides support in more complex scenarios, including internal investigations, executive separations, and sensitive employment matters. Álvaro regularly oversees labor due diligence processes, compliance audits, and is the lead counsel in labor and employment litigation. He holds a Master’s Degree in Labor Law from Universidad Latina in Costa Rica, a Human Resources Management Certification from Cornell University, a Data Protection Certification from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Spain, and is a graduate of the Leadership in Law Firms Program at Harvard Law School. Álvaro is also highly active in client training on key areas such as harassment in all its forms, workplace discrimination, labor law compliance, and related subjects. In addition, he has pursued academic studies in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, Corporate Law, International Compliance, and Data Protection. He is a regular speaker at international labor and employment events organized by the IBA, the ABA, and Latin Lawyer.
