Laurent Cohen-Tanugi
Biography
A member of the Paris and New York Bars, Laurent Cohen-Tanugi is the founder of Cohen-Tanugi Avocats, a boutique international firm focusing on strategic corporate assignments, notably in the areas of transnational anti-corruption compliance and white-collar crime. Over a career of forty years, Mr. Cohen-Tanugi has been a partner of Cleary Gottlieb and Skadden Arps specializing in cross-border M&A transactions, as well as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the pharmaceutical group Sanofi. He is to date the only member of the French Bar to have served as independent corporate monitor on a global FCPA resolution by appointment of the U.S. DOJ and SEC. He also served as independent integrity monitor for the World Bank. Mr. Cohen-Tanugi is a graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Sciences-Po Paris, and the Paris and Harvard Law Schools. He is the author of numerous influential books, including most recently "Laws Without Borders - The Geopolitics of Extraterritoriality", and was a visiting lecturer at the Harvard and Stanford Law Schools.
