Andrew Ward
Biography
Andrew is an antitrust and foreign investment control lawyer and partner at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo. He read law at Downing College, Cambridge 1993-1996, was called to the Bar of England and Wales by Lincoln's Inn, 1997, and became an Abogado del Colegio de Abogados de Madrid in 2002. He was Pupil and Barrister at 13 Old Square (the Chambers of Michael Lyndon Stamford QC, now Maitland Chambers), an Associate in the Brussels office of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, an Associate, Partner and Practice head at Cuatrecasas in Madrid and has been a Partner in the Competition and EU law team at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo in Madrid since 2023. He has been an active member of the IBA since 2008, as a member and later co-chair of the Unilateral Conduct Working Group, Newsletter Editor (2020-2022 - to receive the newsletter, please update your email preferences!), Publications Officer (2023-2024 - all contributions to CLI are most welcome), and now Working Group Officer (2025-2026). He is also President of the ICC Spain Competition Chapter and a former Secretary of the Spanish FDI Association (AEFDI) and Board Member of the Spanish Competition Law Association (AEDC).
