Biography

Carsten is co-head of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) in EMEA. Additionally, he is co-chair of the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Fairness Committee. Carsten joined Goldman Sachs in 2024 as a partner. Prior to joining the firm, Carsten worked at J.P. Morgan for 24 years, most recently serving as co-head of EMEA M&A. He also served as global co-head of J.P. Morgan’s Strategic Investor and Financial Sponsor M&A Group, and prior to that as head of Infrastructure M&A in EMEA. During his tenure at J.P. Morgan, Carsten spent more than a decade in the North America M&A Group based in New York. Carsten earned a BA in Accounting, Finance and Economics from the University of Brest in 1997. He also earned a master's degree in European Management from ESCP-EAP European School of Management in 2000.
