Elikem Benson

Biography

Elikem is an Associate at Sam Okudzeto & Associates in Ghana, where she specializes in commercial dispute resolution in Procurement, Banking, Employment, Product Liability and Intellectual Property disputes involving multinational companies. Her practice also encompasses private client work including cross-border estate planning, probate and administration, and trust matters. She has provided strategic advice on succession planning and fiduciary obligations to ensure the orderly transfer and protection of assets. In 2024, Elikem won the IBA Annual Conference Scholarship by the Private Client Tax Committee, for her essay on real estate investment, tax and succession planning in Ghana. She was also a recipient of the ICCA Inclusion Fund in June 2025, an initiative which supports young emerging arbitration practitioners to engage more actively in the global arbitration community. Elikem is the African Regional Forum Liaison Officer of the Young Lawyers’ Committee, where she works to strengthen opportunities and networks for young lawyers. Beyond the IBA, she is actively engaged in several International Arbitration networks such as Young ICCA (International Council for Commercial Arbitration), the Young International Arbitration Group of the LCIA, and Young OGEMID (Oil-Gas-Energy-Mining and Investment Disputes). She has also volunteered as a Research Fellow at the Institute for African Women in Law (IAWL), reflecting her commitment to championing women’s leadership and participation in law and policy across Africa.
