Nicola Williams
Biography
Nicola Williams started her career as a barrister in private practice, specialising in Criminal Law. During this time she was involved in three successful death penalty appeals from the Commonwealth, and was a legal commentator for the O.J. Simpson trial verdict for BBC World. On leaving private practice she held four senior Ombudsman roles – with the PCA and the then IPCC dealing with allegations of police misconduct up to and including deaths in custody; as the Complaints Commissioner for the Cayman Islands, the territories only Ombudsman, where she was also a member of the Cayman Islands Anti-Corruption Commission; and was the first ever Service Complaints Ombudsman for the UK Armed Forces (SCOAF). She has been a Crown Court Recorder (a part-time Crown Court Judge) since 2010 and a Bencher of Lincolns Inn since 2024. She is the author of three legal thrillers.
