Biography

As one of Canada’s leading sustainability, environmental and regulatory lawyers, Conor Chell has over two decades of experience, leading and advising clients on their sustainability journeys. His extensive career spans a broad spectrum of large corporate clients in the mining, retail, energy, agriculture, natural resources, financial services, manufacturing and Indigenous business sectors, among others. At KPMG Law, Conor leads a collaborative, cross-functional, and multi-disciplinary team. They advise clients on legal risks associated with ESG compliance, disclosure and performance (e.g. greenwashing), major project development (e.g. Bill C-5), ESG strategy and program development, ESG & supply chain due diligence (e.g. modern slavery), and ESG policy development and training. Conor has been twice named a Canadian Environmental Thought Leader and speaks frequently across North America on ESG topics. He has been featured in numerous publications, was named a Top 40 Lawyer in Canada under the age of 40 by LexisNexis and is listed as “Repeatedly Recommended” for ESG Law by Lexpert’s Canadian Legal Directory.
