Biography

John Walsh is the Chief Legal Officer of AIMCo, one of Canada’s largest institutional investors. Prior to his arrival at AIMCo, Mr. Walsh was General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at both Timbercreek Capital and Timbercreek Financial. Prior to Timbercreek, Mr. Walsh spent 15 years as a senior executive at one of Ontario’s largest pension funds, OPTrust, both as a Managing Director in the Private Markets Group and then later as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Before leaving private practice, he was a mergers and acquisitions lawyer at Davies Ward and Beck (as it then was) and Osler Hoskin & Harcourt. Mr. Walsh has held senior political roles in both Canada and the United States and most recently served as the three times elected President of the Conservative Party of Canada.
