Vincent Maurel

Vincent Maurel is a legal expert in financial services, with over two decades of experience advising major players in the banking, asset management, and investment sectors. He joined KPMG Avocats in October 2020 to launch and lead the Legal Financial Services practice, bringing with him a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and strategic transactions.
Before joining KPMG, Vincent was a partner at a leading French law firm, where he co-led the Financial Services team and developed a strong reputation in asset management law. His practice spans banking and finance law, corporate law, M&A, and regulatory compliance, with a particular focus on structuring complex financial products and navigating interactions with supervisory authorities such as the AMF and ACPR.
Vincent regularly advises clients on a wide range of operations, including:
Equity and debt financing (public offerings, private placements, crowdfunding, executive/shareholder transactions such as LBOs and free share plans);
Asset management (legal structuring and monitoring of UCITS and AIFs);
Investment services and financial instrument distribution;
Credit transactions and security arrangements;
Licensing and regulatory approvals for regulated entities (management companies, crowdfunding platforms, investment firms, credit institutions);
Banking intermediation.
In addition to his client work, Vincent plays a prominent role in the legal profession. He served as President of the Hauts-de-Seine Bar Association in 2019 and 2020, and currently sits on the Executive Committee of the French National Bar Council (CNB). He is also Vice-President of the French National Bar Fund (CNBF) and a member of the Bar Council (MCO) of the Hauts-de-Seine Bar.
His leadership roles have also given him unique expertise in professional ethics. Vincent advises regulated professionals—including lawyers, healthcare practitioners, and professional bodies—on ethical and disciplinary matters.
Vincent’s international experience includes advisory work in Africa, such as feasibility studies for the creation of a sovereign wealth fund in sub-Saharan Africa and compliance reviews for financial institutions operating in Morocco.
