Biography
I help individuals and organisations charged with white-collar and financial crimes reduce the severity of their charges or secure outright dismissal. I work closely with CEOs, business owners, and professionals grappling with serious allegations, including bribery & corruption, insider trading, and embezzlement. I also manage sensitive cases involving sexual impropriety in corporate settings, public sector corruption investigations by IBAC and NACC, and regulatory inquiries into healthcare professionals and aged-care providers. Thanks to having lived and worked in Papua New Guinea very early on in my career - helping with the establishment of that country’s first community legal service - a large part of my practice is now dedicated to international criminal law. This involves representing Australian-based organisations with interests overseas (including the Pacific, China and Vietnam) which are facing bribery and corruption charges. That said, our international work includes advising international clients on local criminal law matters and providing representation for local cases. We often receive international work through direct referrals from relevant embassies. I have been in practice as a criminal defence lawyer for 35 years and have been an accredited specialist in criminal law since 1995.
