Charles Laubach

Biography

Charles Laubach has been practicing as a legal consultant in the UAE since 1986. He has a broad field of practice but specialises in corporate and commercial law and in compliance. Charles is a long-standing authority on compliance matters in the UAE. He provides specialised expertise regarding US, UN and other sanctions, boycotts and trade controls; anti-corruption compliance, including compliance with the requirements of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and domestic anti-corruption regulations (including the “Khalifa Directive” with regard to UAE defence procurements); and compliance with AML, CRS, UBO, ESR and similar regulations. Charles has authored several publications on anti-bribery, anti-corruption and anti-money laundering, and is a regular contributor to multiple publications on compliance matters. Titles he has authored include Lexology/GTDT’s Anti-Corruption Regulation and Lexology/GTDT’s Anti-Money Laundering. Charles has served as a presenter, moderator and panelist at multiple conferences, including several of the annual American Conference Institute (ACI) Anti-Corruption Enforcement and Compliance Conferences, the ACI’s Inaugural Global Anti-Corruption Regulatory and Enforcement Update in Washington, D.C. in July 2014, the Academy & Finance conference on Fiscal Transparency and AML Obligations in Dubai, and several TRACE Anti-Corruption Workshops.
