Biography

Former General Counsel and Executive Director of Legal Affairs, INTERPOL From March 2016 to February 2024, Mary served as Executive Director of Legal Affairs and General Counsel of INTERPOL where she led a team of over 80 attorneys and staff in providing legal advice on international police cooperation among INTERPOL’s 196 member countries. She also oversaw legal compliance with INTERPOL’s information exchange and wanted person alert systems. Mary is currently the Deputy Director, Office of International Affairs, Criminal Division, United States Department of Justice. Prior to her assignment to INTERPOL Mary served in various capacities in the U.S. Department of Justice, including Acting Director and Trial Attorney in the Office of International Affairs. Mary’s experience includes 5 years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, Trial Attorney in the Voting Rights Section of the Civil Rights Division, and several years as General Counsel and Attorney-Advisor in the General Counsel’s offices of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Office of Personnel Management, and the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency. Mary received two Atorney General Awards and several Assistant Atorney General Awards Mary holds a juris doctor degree (JD) from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of San Diego.
