Biography

Maarten Schut is a partner at Kennedy Van der Laan in the Netherlands, a full service firm with a strong focus on advanced technologies and innovation. Maarten is an intellectual property lawyer specializing in life sciences, technology-related contracting and trademarks. His group offers support to international clients in complex negotiations and conflicts relating to R&D and licensing.  Apart from heading the life sciences group at Kennedy Van der Laan, Maarten is also a deputy judge at one of the four courts of appeal, where he was invited as an expert in IP matters. He regularly teaches and publishes on IP law and is editor of the leading academic journal on industrial property in the Netherlands. Maarten is a recognized expert on trade secrets, publishing and teaching on the subject as well as litigating.
