Biography

Betania Glorio is Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Group Compliance and Data Privacy of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. Betania has overall responsibility for the company’s development and implementation of the Compliance and Data Privacy Programs across the Healthcare, Lifesciences and Electronics business sectors worldwide including the U.S. and Canada. In her role, she manages a team of Compliance and Data Privacy Officers globally where she focuses on their career development and shaping a compliance and data privacy program adapted to the evolving landscape. Before joining Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany in 2017, Betania held different positions since 2005 in the legal and compliance departments at Pfizer both in Latin America, and Europe, Africa and Middle East, as well as in two emerging biotechnology companies in the space of Oncology and Rare Diseases. Before joining the Pharmaceutical Industry, Betania worked as a corporate lawyer in the Oil & Gas industry and Financial Compliance matters. Betania holds a law degree from the Catholic University Andres Bello in Venezuela and a Specialization in Corporate Law from University of San Andres in Argentina.
