Kapil Chaudhary

Biography

Kapil Chaudhary is a Partner in the Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) practice at Dentons Link Legal. He advises on legal and regulatory issues at the intersection of technology, data, artificial intelligence, and digital regulation. His practice focuses on AI and data governance, digital regulation, privacy and cybersecurity, platform regulation, and technology-enabled business transformation. He regularly advises on complex matters, including enterprise AI governance frameworks, regulatory strategies for emerging technologies, cross-border data and cloud structuring, platform accountability, and regulatory response in sensitive or time-critical situations. With over 25 years of progressive experience across senior in-house leadership roles and private practice, Kapil brings a practical, operator-led perspective to complex legal and regulatory challenges faced by global technology companies, digital platforms, and data-driven businesses. Prior to joining the firm, he served as General Counsel and in senior legal leadership roles at a range of global technology and digital businesses, including STAR News, Schlumberger, IBM (in India and Singapore), Autodesk, Twitter, Flutter International (Junglee Games) and Info Edge (India) Ltd. In these roles, he advised boards and leadership teams through periods of rapid innovation, heightened regulatory scrutiny, and market expansion. Clients value his ability to distil legal and regulatory risk into clear, decision-oriented advice for boards and senior management, aligned with commercial and strategic objectives. A significant part of Kapil’s work involves advising global boards, CEOs, and general counsel on the responsible deployment of AI and data at scale, particularly in regulated or reputation-sensitive sectors such as consumer internet, financial services, media, gaming, and global capability centers (GCCs). His work often focuses on helping organizations develop governance frameworks that go beyond formal compliance and support sustainable innovation, accountability, and trust. Kapil is a regular speaker at industry conferences and closed-door forums on AI governance, digital regulation, competition, and technology risk. He authors "First Principles", a LinkedIn newsletter focused on foundational thinking around AI, data, and digital regulation for boards and senior leadership, and regularly publishes commentary followed by general counsel, business leaders, and policymakers. His writing and speaking engagements form part of his broader engagement with policy, industry, and academic initiatives related to the evolving AI-driven economy.
