Biography

Manuela de la Helguera is an international lawyer with over 15 years of experience in international dispute resolution, specializing in investor-State arbitration, commercial arbitration, and construction-related disputes. She has served as counsel, arbitrator and tribunal secretary in proceedings administered under ICSID, ICC, AAA/ICDR, CANACO, CIAC, and CENAC rules, among others. Her practice spans a broad range of sectors, including infrastructure, telecommunications, energy, and mining, with a particular focus on complex cross-border matters. Manuela currently serves as in-house counsel at a regional development bank in Latin America, where she advises on international contracts, dispute resolution, and risk management. She also provides support in areas such as contract management, dispute prevention, and expert coordination in cross-border infrastructure projects. Manuela has taught international arbitration and regularly participates as a speaker, moot court arbitrator, and trainer at leading conferences and academic competitions.
