Biography

Rosemary Chinelo Chikwendu is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989. She holds an LLM in International Commercial Law, from University of Liverpool and a PhD in Mediation and Dispute Resolution from Atlantic International University. She has many training and certifications in the sphere of dispute resolution. They include: • Arbitration and Mediation from; International Law Institute (ILI) Georgetown University, Washington D.C. USA. • Mediation and Mediation Trainer from; The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators of Nigeria (ICMC) • Communication, Negotiation and Social Psychology from; The United Nations Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR). • Workplace and International Mediation from; Pulse Institute Calgary, Canada. • Self and Workplace Mediation from; Mediation Training Institute {MTI}, US. • Negotiation and leadership from; Harvard University Law School. • Communication Psycho Analysis from; The ABC group Netherlands. • Conflict Analysis from; The United Nations Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR). • Mediation from; The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Dispute Resolution Centre. • Women Peacebuilding and Leadership from; Coady Institute, St Francis Xavier University Nova Skotia Canada. She is a founding partner of Chikwendu & Chikwendu & Co, a firm of Legal Practitioners, Mediators & Arbitrators. Chief Executive- My Take Initiative, a non-governmental organization. A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators of Nigeria, and is currently, the Chair of the Abuja Branch of the Instituter. Member women Mediators Network of Nigeria. Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) UK, Member of Nigerian Bar Association, where she serves as the Alternate Chair of the Dispute Resolution Committee of the Abuja Branch. Life Member International Federation of Women Layers ( FIDA) Member of The International Barr Association (IBA) where she has served in different positions. Rosemary sits as a Neutral at the Multi-Door Court House of the FCT Abuja Judiciary, Dispute Resolution Centre of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federal High Court and was awarded an ambassador for peace in 2019 and Doctor of excellence in leadership in 2020.
