Biography

Dr. Bamikole Martins Aduloju (KoleMartins) is a highly experienced dispute resolution practitioner and distinguished academic with expertise in jurisprudence of arbitration. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Birmingham Law School, University of Birmingham. He combines academic research with practical insights to prepare students and practitioners for the complexities of international arbitration. His expertise extends to the jurisprudential foundations of arbitration, where he explores the interplay between party autonomy, judicial oversight, and procedural fairness in arbitration proceedings. He is also a certified External Examiner and Associate Fellow of Advance HE UK. Dr KoleMartins holds an LL.M. and a PhD in Law from Robert Gordon University, Scotland, alongside an LL.B. (Hons) from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. He is a founding member of the African Arbitration Academy and has been serving as the Academy's Research Rector since 2021. He has also been involved in some groundbreaking initiatives by the Academy, including developing the Protocol on Virtual Hearings in Africa, which aims to modernise arbitration practices across the continent. He is a member of reputable organisations, including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Society of Legal Scholars, Socio-Legal Studies Association, the Energy Institute, and the Association of Law Teachers UK, etc. He exemplifies a vision for arbitration that transcends national legal borders. His practice career demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing arbitration as an extraterritorial discipline, particularly fostering the exchange of ideas and practices between African and English legal systems. He has represented high-profile clients in complex arbitration and litigation cases, including disputes involving multinational oil and gas corporations and government agencies. His academic work aims to harmonise diverse legal traditions, ensuring that arbitration jurisprudence is enriched by the insights and practices of multiple systems. Dr KoleMartins champions a future where arbitration jurisprudence is extraterritorial, inclusive, and firmly grounded in fairness and equity.
