Biography
FOLABI KUTI SAN folabikuti@kutilegal.com Folabi Kuti, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is the founding/lead partner at Union Attorneys (Incorporating KutiLegal). Folabi brings to his work penetrating insights accrued over several years of experience in core litigation, and main practice area – Labour & Employment Law. Folabi has a keen interest in the research and development of Nigerian law as well as those in other jurisdictions. Folabi has acquired extensive knowledge and proficiency in labour matters with which he is able to advise numerous clients with the aim of creating a seamless relationship between employers and employees. He has a keen interest in the research and development of Nigerian law as well as those in other jurisdictions and remains at the forefront of ensuring that the Labour Bill pending before the National Assembly is passed into law. He has been involved at the Committee Reading (and, revision) of the Bill. A prolific writer, Folabi has published articles and commentaries on a wide range of subjects. Folabi was a contributing editor (as a co-contributor on the chapter on Nigeria) to the widely-acclaimed UK-based publication, Employment Law Review by Law Business Research; a contributing editor to the Global Edge Labour & Employment Update by Squire Patton Boggs; a regular contributor to the World Bank Reports on Labour related issues in Nigeria; and a few other employment related journals. He is a regular Speaker/Facilitator/Resource person at conferences and seminars. Amongst other Employment & Labour Law professionals drawn from 7 countries across the continent, he was part of the facilitators at the ENI International Human Resource Legal team organised session at San Donato, Milan, Italy on non-discrimination legislations in countries where Agip-ENI carries out operations, with particular emphasis on the application in Nigeria of Article 111 of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention. Folabi is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, and the International Bar Association. He is the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association Committee on Labour and Employment Law. Folabi was the Partner in charge of Dispute Resolution and Employment Law Departments in the leading firm of Perchstone & Graeys LP, from where he left to be the founding Lead Partner in the commercial law firm of Union Attorneys (Incorporating KutiLegal).
