Biography

Adriano is a partner at Mattos Filho Advogados, a Brazilian full-service law firm. His practice focuses primarily on Mining Law, Natural Resources, Regulatory Law, as well as Contractual and Corporate Law. He has been dealing with the mining sector for over two decades and provided advise to Brazilian and international companies and other players of the sector, and has taken part in capacity-building programs for other governments. Adriano holds a Ph.D. in Law (Regulation and Transformations in the Economic Order) from the University of Brasília (UnB), Brazil, with a thesis titled “The Theory of Public Interest Regulation Applied to the Mining Sector”. He also earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with Distinction in Natural Resources Law and Policy from CEPMLP, University of Dundee, United Kingdom. Adriano is an Honorary Lecturer at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), of the University of Dundee (United Kingdom), and is a part-time lecturer in other institutions, courses, and specialization programs, including Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) and Instituto Brasileiro de Ensino, Desenvolvimento e Pesquisa (IDP), in Brazil.
