Biography

Kent Schmidt is a Partner in Dorsey & Whitney's California offices where his practice includes all types of general business litigation, with emphases in unfair business practices, trade secret litigation, consumer class actions, product liability, securities litigation and enforcement, shareholder disputes, commercial disputes, Prop 65 (environmental) claims and labor/employment matters. He is a zealous and creative courtroom advocate, equally accustomed to representing plaintiffs and defendants. In addition to his general business litigation practice, he advises on litigation avoidance. Kent is the author US Business Litigation (2d ed. 2025), and co-author of regional books Come Prevenire e Mitigare i Rischi di Contenzioso Negli USA: Guida Pratica per le Aziende Italiane e i loro consulenti (Italian Edition with Co-Authors) and Comment prévenir et gérer les risques de litiges aux États-Unis (French Edition with Co-Author).
