Biography

Kohji Hayakawa is Of Counsel and co-head of the Maritime and Shipping Group at Atsumi & Sakai, Tokyo. He advises a wide range of clients in the maritime industry, including international trading houses, shipping companies, and insurance companies, with a particular focus on cross-border dispute resolution involving litigation and arbitration. With over a decade of experience in maritime law, Kohji has served as a legal intern at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) and completed a secondment with one of Japan’s largest trading houses, deepening his insight into the commercial and regulatory aspects of global shipping. Kohji is qualified in Japan and England & Wales, and is a member of the Japanese Maritime Law Association.
