Biography

The Hon Justice Mark Livesey was appointed to the Supreme Court and to the new Court of Appeal of South Australia on 28 January 2020. In September 2021, he was appointed President of the Court of Appeal. After working in commercial and insurance litigation, Justice Livesey joined the Bar in July 2000 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in February 2006. He had a broad practice in commercial and civil litigation and appeals. He also appeared in arbitrations, including the arbitrations over the construction and operation of the AU$2.4 billion new Royal Adelaide Hospital. Mark served as President of the South Australian Bar in 2011-2012 and President of the Australian Bar in 2014-2015. He is a member of the Judges' Forum and Chair during 2025-2026.
