Biography

Chiagozie Ferdinand Hilary-Nwokonko is a Senior Partner at Streamsowers & Köhn, where he leads the Energy and Natural Resources and Legislative Advocacy Practice Groups. He advises local and international clients on complex matters involving oil and gas, mining, environmental law, competition law, corporate and commercial transactions, and regulatory compliance. Chiagozie has played a leading role in several landmark energy transactions, including multibillion-dollar acquisitions involving CNOOC, Sinopec, Seplat, and other major industry players. He also advised the Federal Government of Nigeria on the development of the Petroleum Industry Bill (now the Petroleum Industry Act) and contributed to the Nigerian Electricity Market Stabilisation Facility. He holds an LL.M. in Global Antitrust Law and Economics from the Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University (USA), degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of Dundee, and a B.L.from the Nigerian Law School. He is a member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), and the International Bar Association's Section on Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law (SEERIL). He also previously served as Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law Competition and Consumer Protection Committee.
