Claudia Santos Cruz
Biography
Claudia Santos Cruz is a partner of the Morais Leitão Legal Circle and part of their MDR Advogados team in Mozambique. Claudia is qualified to practice in England (1996), Portugal (2005) and Mozambique (2018). She trained and practiced as an English solicitor from 1994 to 2005 at DLA Piper and Watson Farley & Williams in the City of London. For decades she has assisted clients on the international and cross border aspects of their investments in Portugal and Lusophone Africa, including Angola; Mozambique and Cape Verde. Claudia coordinates the international Oil & Gas team (including mining) and Shipping practice and is also a member of the international Banking & Finance department. Specialist in areas such as Energy and Mineral Resources (Oil & Gas / Mining), international aspects of foreign investment into Lusophone Africa jurisdictions, Banking & Finance, Corporate and Shipping. She was also nominated a Maritime Arbitrator / Expert by the CONCÒRDIA Maritime Arbitration, Conciliation and Conflict Mediation Centre. Claudia has been an active member and officer of the IBA since 2007 having held the position of Senior Vice Chair of the European Regional Forum. Currently she is Vice Chair of the African Regional Forum and an officer of the Oil & Gas Law Committee.
