Edem Kodzo Okudzeto

Biography

Dr. Okudzeto is a multi-jurisdictional attorney with over nine years’ experience. He is licensed to practice law in the States of Illinois and North Dakota (USA), the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and the Republic of Ghana. Edem has significant experience in intellectual property law, his background in solid state chemistry combined with his legal experience enables him to analyze the patentability of an invention as well as understand the process of patent infringement. His previous role in patent litigation involved analyzing and researching contested issues in patent development and implementing effective strategies to ensure successful litigation outcomes. Edem has counseled several clients on developing broad intellectual property portfolios and licensing strategies. He also has extensive experience in drafting multi-jurisdictional licensing agreements. Edem has also provided legal advisory services to startup businesses on corporate structuring, project financing, and risk management. Edem has drafted multi-jurisdictional employment contracts as well as joint venture agreements on behalf of clients. He has also advised clients on US immigration issues including family and employment-based adjustment of status petitions, the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act / the UK Anti Bribery Act, as well as Data Protection and Anti-Money Laundering issues in multiple jurisdictions. Prior to joining Sam Okudzeto and Associates, Edem was an Assistant State’s Attorney in Burleigh County, North Dakota, where he prosecuted felony and misdemeanor cases involving drug distribution and possession; driving under the influence and driving under suspension; and juvenile offenses. He also conducted numerous civil hearings involving traffic offenses, mental health, and child support cases.
