Biography

Zara Jamal is the Managing partner of JLA Advogados in Mozambique since 2014 and is a partner in Abreu Advogados in Portugal since 2016. She is dually qualified and registered both at the Mozambican and Portuguese Bar Associations. Zara has been heavily involved in the structuring and implementation of several landmark projects in the O&G, mining, energy and real estate in Mozambique, leading multidisciplinary teams and providing advisory in regulatory, finance, corporate and tax matters. Zara provides advice to various ECA’s, DFI’s, Multilateral and Commercial Banks and major sponsors both at a domestic and international level. She is highly experienced and has in-depth knowledge of the Mozambican legal system and business environment and is praised by major international directories such as Chambers & Partners, IFLR1000, Legal500 and has been recognized by Iberian Lawyer as one of the 40 under forty lawyers in the category of Infrastructure and Construction, in 2020 she was shortlisted as Partner of the Year (female) in the African Legal Awards and she is listed and “Highly Regarded” in IFLR 1000.
