Biography
Olivier Dauchez is a lawyer specializing in taxation, primarily transactional and international taxation: mergers and acquisitions—including listed companies—intra-group reorganizations, investments, particularly in real estate, and financial transactions for deals that generally have a strong international component. He also works in the field of personal taxation for prominent French and foreign families.
His work involves representing clients in their dealings with the tax authorities to obtain tax approvals, during audits and before the courts or in arbitration proceedings for their tax disputes.
His French and international clientele includes large multinational groups, investment funds, sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, and prominent families. He sometimes works alongside governments on the design and drafting of new tax legislation or the renegotiation of international tax treaties.
His international practice draws on his experience as a lawyer in Japan and the People's Republic of China, where he practiced for seven years, as well as his close relationships with international tax lawyers, mainly in North America, Europe, and Asia.
As an administrator, he chairs the International Taxation Commission of the Institute of Tax Lawyers and is also a member of the editorial board of the quarterly journal Fiscalité Internationale. He participates in the work of the Direct Taxation Commission of the European Tax Confederation.
A graduate of the Magistère de Juriste d'Affaires et Fiscalité (Master's degree in Business Law and Taxation) and the DESS (postgraduate degree) in Business Law and Taxation from Paris II Assas, he is a member of the Paris Bar, a partner at Gide Loyrette Nouel since 1997, and involved in its scientific advisory board.
Regularly ranked by Chambers Europe, he is recognized for his expertise in tax litigation and transactions involving companies in the 2022 edition of this guide. He was named “Lawyer of the Year” in the “Trust and Estates” category in 2020 in the Best Lawyers in France ranking and ranked among the Best Lawyers in ‘Tax’ and “Trust and Estate.” Finally, he is listed in the International Who's Who Corporate Tax Lawyers guide.
