Biography

Peter has been Chair of Scotland-based Burness Paull since 2018 and was re-elected for a third three-year term in 2024. In this role, he heads the firm’s governance and strategy board and plots the growth and international plans of the business, alongside the firm’s Managing Partner, Mark Ellis. Together, they lead an inclusive business that delivers the highest-quality advice that supports clients’ ambitions. Widely regarded as one of Scotland’s top corporate lawyers, he also maintains a busy client practice, advising clients on complex M&A transactions, corporate governance, joint ventures and capital markets.
