Biography

I qualified as a Solicitor in 1977 and remained in private practice, with the same firm in Central London, until January 2001. My criminal defence practice evolved and I developed a particular interest in extradition law. I then took up a full-time appointment as District Judge (Magistrates` Courts). I remain in post and - with a colleague who was appointed on the same day - am the longest current in-post holder of this role. As a Judge I deal with all aspects of criminal law and particularly extradition cases. Many of these involve complex fraud allegations (or convictions). I also deal with requests for Mutual Legal Assistance, Asset Freezing / POCA and similar applications, often involving millions of pounds.
