Biography
Jo is a partner of Maples and Calder’s Funds & Investment Management team based in the Cayman Islands. Acting for a range of investment advisers, from start-up managers to some of the most sophisticated, institutional asset managers across a broad spectrum of asset classes, Jo advises on all aspects of Cayman Islands hedge, credit and private equity funds from fund formation and fund-raising to downstream transactions. She is regularly instructed to advise on complex fund and upper-tier reorganisations, including for spin outs, manager acquisitions and succession planning.
Jo joined the Maples Group in 2007. Prior to this, she established a successful practice at the Commercial Bar in London, where she was consistently ranked by legal directories as a leading barrister in her field. Jo has spoken at a number of industry conferences and regularly contributes to publications on fund-related matters. She was part of a small group that was instrumental in the establishment of the Cayman Islands Chapter of 100 Women in Finance and served as the initial co-chair of the Chapter. Jo has been twice profiled by the Hedge Fund Journal as one of 50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds and has been ranked over consecutive years by Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal and is recognised as ‘Highly Regarded’ by IFLR 1000.
