Biography

Yushi Hegawa is a tax partner at Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu, Tokyo, Japan, where he heads the firm’s tax practice. Yushi has over 20 years of practical experience in all spectrum of Japanese taxation, such as tax-free reorganizations, tax-efficient mergers and acquisitions and financing/capital markets transactions. Yushi also represents many Japanese and foreign-owned taxpayers before Japanese courts and tax tribunals in tax controversy cases and has secured successful results in many cases. Yushi receives high market recognitions from media such as Chambers Asia-Pacific, Legal 500 and Nikkei. Yushi taught tax law at the University of Tokyo Law School where he was Adjunct Professor of Law. Yushi holds an LL.B from the University of Tokyo and an LL.M from Harvard Law School, and is admitted to practice in Japan and New York.
