Branda Katan

Biography

Branda specialises in international litigation. Her fields of work include collective actions, corporate litigation and complex contractual disputes, often with cross-border or regulatory aspects. She has acted in a broad spectrum of cases involving ESG-related matters, industrial accidents and consumer rights disputes, representing clients in manufacturing, mining, tech, aviation and many other sectors. Branda is Professor by Special Appointment for the Corporate Litigation chair at Leiden University. Her research, publications and teaching focus on class actions, ESG and the attribution of knowledge to legal entities. She holds a PhD (with honours) from the Radboud University Nijmegen. Branda is an editor of the Handbook on Mass Damages (Handboek massaschade), the yearly Proceedings of the Association for Corporate Litigation (Geschriften wanwege de Vereniging Corporate Litigation), and Corporate Litigation (book to be published in 2026). She also serves as an editor of the Dutch Review of Private Law (Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Burgerlijk Recht).
