Biography

Nicola Jackson Partner, Charles Russell Speechlys Nicola is a Partner in Charles Russell Speechlys’ Corporate Restructuring & Insolvency Disputes Team and is based in Dubai. Nicola specialises in insolvency-related disputes and advisory in the UAE, and in commercial and financial disputes before the onshore UAE, DIFC and ADGM courts. Nicola advises creditors, debtors and insolvency practitioners on a wide range of contentious commercial and insolvency-related matters, including advising local and foreign office holders in their capacity as such and utilising the procedures available in the UAE Courts, including seeking recognition and access to information and/or assets. Nicola advises on the various insolvency and restructuring-related processes in the UAE and on relevant stakeholder rights and duties. Nicola has been in the Middle East since 2009 and has acted on a number of seminal insolvency and restructuring cases in the region, including Awal Bank – of which Charles Russell Speechlys is the Liquidator – TIBC, Abraaj, Gulf Petrochem and NMC Healthcare. Nicola also specialises in commercial and financial disputes before the DIFC Courts and in particular, matters relating to jurisdiction challenges. Nicola has acted on a number of high profile and/or seminal cases in this regard, including Credit Suisse v Goel, the first ever “Courts of Dubai” ‘opt-in’ case under Article 5(A)(2) of the Judicial Authority Law.
